The Nolan Painting app (the “app”) is a private, internal tool provided by Nolan Painting, Inc. (“Nolan Painting,” “we,” “us”) for use by its employees and authorized field crews. The app is not intended for the general public, and access requires a Nolan Painting account. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Account & identity information
You sign in with your Nolan Painting Google Workspace account (single sign-on). Through sign-in we receive your name, work email address, and your employee profile within Nolan’s systems (such as your team, title, and assignments). We do not collect or store your Google password.
Camera & photos
With your permission, the app uses the camera so you can take a job-site photo as part of a form (for example, the safety huddle). When you submit such a form, that photo is uploaded and stored with the form record so it can be reviewed alongside the submission. The camera is used only when you choose to add a photo to a form - the app does not access your camera or photo library in the background.
Location (preview feature - accessed on your device only)
The Settings screen includes an optional “Distance to the shop” preview. When you tap it, the app reads your device’s location once and uses it, entirely on your device, to calculate how far you are from the Nolan Painting shop. That is the only thing location is used for today.
Your location is not collected, not stored, and not shared. It is never saved on the device, never sent to our servers, and never transmitted to anyone. The reading exists only for the moment the distance is shown and is then discarded.
Microphone & audio (preview feature - accessed on your device only)
The Settings screen includes an optional “Voice capture” preview. When you tap to record, the app captures a short audio clip and lets you play it back, entirely on your device.
Your audio is not collected, not stored, and not shared. Recordings are not uploaded to our servers, are not sent to any speech-to-text or other third-party service, and are not saved - the clip is kept in memory only for playback and is discarded when you leave the screen.
Usage, crash & diagnostic information
To keep the app reliable, we collect app-activity and diagnostic data, such as which screens are used, errors and crashes, and general device and operating-system information (for example, app version, device model, and operating-system version). This is used to diagnose problems and improve the app, not to identify you personally for any other purpose. We use Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics) and our own internal Nolan telemetry service to collect this diagnostic data. The app contains no advertising and does not use an advertising identifier.
How we use information
- Operate core features: job tracking, assignments, employee profile, and field forms.
- Attach the photos and form submissions you create to the correct job and form records.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app’s reliability.
The app also displays Nolan Painting’s own business information - such as job details, schedules, and team assignments - from Nolan’s internal systems. That is company operational data shown to you in the app; it is not personal information collected from you.
How we share information
We do not sell your information, and the app contains no advertising. Information is used within Nolan Painting’s own systems and is shared only with service providers that help us operate the app, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Google - single sign-on / account authentication, and (via Google Firebase) crash reporting and analytics.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) - hosting, data storage, and processing.
- Smartsheet - operational records used by Nolan Painting’s workflows.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Nolan Painting, our employees, or others.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to operate the app and to meet Nolan Painting’s legitimate business and employment-record purposes, and as required by applicable law, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by access controls and single sign-on. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards.
Your choices
Camera, microphone, and location permissions are optional and can be granted or revoked at any time in your device’s Settings. Some features will not function without the related permission. Because the app is tied to your employment, questions about your employee data should be directed to Nolan Painting.
Requesting deletion of your data. You may request deletion of personal information the app has collected from you (such as photos you have submitted or your diagnostic data) by emailing [email protected]. We will honor such requests consistent with Nolan Painting’s legal and employment-record obligations. Note that location and microphone readings used by the preview features are never collected or stored, so there is nothing of that kind to delete.
Children
The app is intended only for Nolan Painting employees and authorized adult users. It is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
